As a member, you can climb in Bommari 24/7. In this case it is recommended to acquire a key to the Tekiila’s equipment locker (info in membership).
Climbing session
Climbing sessions are targeted for everyone interested in climbing and who have paid SportUni’s fee. You don’t have to be a member of Tekiila in order to participate to the sessions, feel free to join! Those who have attended Tekiila’s beginners’ course can practice belaying if the skills have gotten a bit rusty or if you need some extra practice before taking the belaying test. The event is meant to get people together and give a taste of the clubs activities.
The session is held on Wednesdays from 18:00-20:00 at Tamppi Areena and Bommari. You can get to Bommari from Rakennustalo’s elevator that takes to the bottom floors air-raid shelter (in Finnish ‘väestösuoja’, ‘VS’). If you don’t have access to Hervanta campus facilities, make sure that you enter the campus before the exit doors are locked at 18:00.
In the late spring, we occasionally organize climbing sessions outdoors at nearby rocks. We inform about this beforehand in e-mail, in telegram or in clubs facebook. Sessions are not organized during the summer period.
You only need clothes suitable for exercise with you, all other equipment are lent by the club.
Climbing meet-ups
We also organize more laid back climbing meet-ups on Mondays and Fridays from 18:00 forward. These meet-ups are meant to increase the climbing opportunities of Tekiila’s members. The meet-ups are usually organized at Tamppi Areena. Unlike in the climbing session, the participants must have sufficient belaying skills for independent climbing, since the presence of Tekiila’s board members is not granted.
Courses
Tekiila organizes multiple courses throughout the academic year in accordance to the demand. More information about the courses can be found here.
Excursions
Throughout the year, Tekiila organizes many excursions outside Tampere. During indoor climbing season the excursions aim mainly to Helsinki climbing centers, however if the weather is suitable the trip can also aim to outdoor boulder and rope climbing rocks. Information about the excursion, amongst all the other things, is distributed through Tekiila’s e-mail list, that you can join from here.
If the excursion is headed to a climbing center, the climber has to have a belaying card or readiness to complete a one. Ask more information for instance in Tekiila’s telegram channel or in the Wednesday climbing session. You can also have an influence on where the excursion will be headed.
Tekiila will give an allowance according to the traveled kilometers for those who drive the participants of the excursion in carpool to the destination and back. The members of Tekiila are prioritized in the excursion sign up.
Climbing tutorials
Tekiila organizes also climbing tutorials for guilds, clubs and other organizations, whose employees and members are in the circle of SportUni. The cost of the tutorials can be inquired from the board.
